Les began his professional theatrical career with the Riverina Theatre Company in NSW as an actor and director and later joined the Salamanca Theatre Company where he wrote and directed his first plays. After many years performing with a number of companies he was a founding member of Zootango Theatre in Hobart and was instrumental in the formation of Theatre Alfresco/Big Monkey Theatre, producing shows in the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens every summer for more than twenty years. Les has written twenty something plays including those for Big Monkey, Salamanca Theatre Company, Terrapin Theatre, Port Arthur Historic Site, the National Maritime Museum and the Australian Wooden Boat Festival. Les is the Artistic Director of Big Monkey Theatre and gets his performance fix as a roving performer and as a Clown Doctor with the Humour Foundation’s team at the Royal Hobart hospital. He also has extensive voice-over credits in animation, radio and television commercials and documentaries and has recently performed in two shows for the newly formed Blue Cow Theatre.
